about

Boyband' is Alice's first single since 2019 and is part of a trilogy of singles that will be released throughout the coming months. It is written with a level of defiance against the sexism that is still so prevalent within the music industry. Written during lockdown, Alice then collaborated with a number of friends and musicians to make it into the powerful piece that it is today.

lyrics

Lyrics:

It’s mid afternoon in the summer
When the news starts to break and you run for the blade
To sever those ties in the most public way.

And no one’s denying his crimes,
That you’ve built as a mask to complete your disguise
That you’ve broadcast to hide your own lies.

You’ve cast him out that despicable man, those despicable plans
To show your moral stance
You feigned your surprise, eyes turned blind to the signs,
Cause this crime’s recognised.
Your reasoning’s false, your hypocrisy glares,
Through your public address
That nobody, asked you to make,

So you’ve thrown all the blame.

A few months down the line and he’s back in those bars,
The people who shamed him now cling to his arms.
He’s picked up his pen and he’s back on that stage,
He’ll take from her heartbreak to pave his new way.

And no one’s denying his crimes,
They’ve been pushed to the back of those sycophants minds,
While she tries to process her pain.

You’ve cast him out that despicable man, those despicable plans
To show your moral stance
You feigned your surprise, eyes turned blind to the signs,
Cause this crime’s recognised.
Your reasoning’s false, your hypocrisy glares,
Through your public address
That nobody, asked you to make,
So you’ve thrown all the blame.

You’ve cast him out that despicable man, those despicable plans
Now he’s back in your band
You feigned your disgust at those damning headlines,
Till it’s one of your friends,
And then you’re the first to campaign for crossed wires
Through your public display,
That nobody, asked you to fake,

A key part of masquerade, is to throw all the blame.
